Emri Steering control and Autopilot System

EMRI Steering Control and Autopilot Support in Sinagpore

Our company is one of the few marine electronic service support for EMRI product in Singapore. As we work very closely with EMRI Denmark for any technical support locally. So either shipowner, shipping agent or technician who find their steering problem on board ship, could approach us for technical advice and if required, we could even provide technician together with full range of spare parts to help solve problems on board ship. RCY10-440, RCU10-440, RCW10-440,  RFU,  and SEM200 autopilot spare parts support were some of the steering control and autopilot we were able to support locally. Consider thousands of ship passing Singapore daily for either bunkering, loading/unloading of cargo, tanker, container ships, Singapore has become a best place for ship owner to do repair and provide safe voyage for ship crew on board. EMRI CEILING RAI

This is a container ship. The ceiling RAI(Rudder Angle Indicator) has been replaced several times and mostly work for approximately one to two days and then it fails. The worst case was the ceiling RAI causes other RAI to behave abnormally. Had discuss with EMRI Denmark, they feel that adding an SAB10 would solve the problem of loading ceiling RAI. Truthful enough, after adding a SAB10 to existing SAB10-230 no.2 proved value. The RFU was originally connected with +/-12Vdc taken from SAB10-230 no.2, now connected to new SAB10. The original +/-12Vdc, 0V, Signal (+), Signal (-),  Pot CW, Wiper, Pot CCW were not labeled properly. By tracing the cable via ship as built manual drawing, i was able to locate the terminal block and labeled properly so as connection to RAI later would not be wrong.
After new connection, tested together with Chief Officer found working normally. No complaint till now after 2 weeks.

EMRI RCU20-440

This is a LNG ship. It equipped with 4 pump system. Ship crew has complaint that hydro lock alarm constantly sound when operate stbd pump no.2 with FU in bridge. Attended on board and go to local and open up the control box. Move jumper W1 from NORMAL to TEST, set local control to remote. Move the test wheel from 5 = mid position to fully anti-clockwise = 0, observe the steering move to hard port. Then move the test wheel from fully anti-clockwise to fully clockwise. Observe steering moving from hard port to hard stbd while taking timing from 30 port to 35 stbd. It should be less than 28sec. Tested all 4 pumps = 26sec - OK. Found hydro lock alarm lighted up in stbd pump no.2 control box. Replaced KSA12 and setup the board, tested again with the same procedure above and found hydro lock alarm not present.
Ship crew is happy with the board replaced and setup correctly. Tested 2 pumps and 4 pumps combination, all working well.

EMRI RCU10-440

This was a container ship where pump no.1 failed to operate due to transformer burnt inside RCU control box. Attended onboard and measured transformer primary winding and secondary winding. Found AC440V present at input of both RCU transformers. Measured output and found all secondary winding present except 100Vac not present at NFU lower transformer. Try changing the transformer only, measured and found NFU Hi power +/-15Vdc not present at J3-1/2 and J3-3/2. Finally change the whole RCU10-440 control box. Setup the KSA11 board and compare to defective unit. Tested Steering working from hard port to hard stbd with one pump at approx. 38sec. Quite slow and due to time constraint, could not test further. Ship crew is happy with both steering pump no.1 and 2 working individually and combine. Also tested autopilot working well.

EMRI RCW10-440

This was a vessel equiped with 3 pumps system. Ship crew complaint that the steering control constantly giving hydraulic lock alarm to pump 1 and 3. The fault was intermittent. Sometime control from NFU it gives alarm. Sometimes control in FU give alarm. Either local control or remote control were giving hydraulic lock alarm from intermittently to more frequent alarm. Later it was found that the coupling in the torque motor for pump 1 and 3 were about to give way. Ship crew has to fabricate the coupling to insert into pump 1 and 3. It works well with control from hard port to hard stbd moving at speed of 28sec. - OK.
This emri steering control was using RCW10-440 servo control box with hitachi steering gear.

Please see attached picture of coupling inside torque motor.
